FT Customer Service Representative - Trucking

Full-Time: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

Essential Duties

  • Address all customer issues in a timely, efficient, and professional manner while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy when providing information.
  • Timely and accurate processing of all work assignments while demonstrating a consistent application of technical skills at a fast pace with a high degree of job knowledge in order to complete all assigned tasks including, but not limited to customer communication, order entry, rate quotes, rating charges on orders, order availability & scheduling for dispatch, customer billing, report completion, quality control, and ensure accuracy of charges.
  • Support and assist operations with handling issues or questions while exercising good judgement and discretion when responding.
  • Investigation and follow up when handling pending orders on a daily basis: update "Last Free Day" for all vessels, look up & update the system with container yard locations, call customers to schedule empty container pick up while monitoring "last free day" to help avoid detention & demurrage charges, and review Dispatch board and update to ensure accurate status for each job.
  • Make sure charges are accurate & confirmed before forwarding for billing.
  • Update steamship schedules and contact resources daily to ensure data in the system is current.
  • Always think and work safely to prevent work injuries, accidents and property damage. Comply with all company safety rules, including reporting unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, illnesses and injuries to supervisor or manager, and actively participate in identifying ways to make our company a safer place to work.
  • Evaluate procedures continually in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with documentation, reception, & billing duties as necessary.
  • Assist with document scanning in a timely & accurate manner to ensure documents can be easily located & retrieved.


  • Minimum 2 years related business experience.
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Ability to understand and work in a computer database.
  • Type 45+ wpm.
  • Excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Completes assigned job duties with a high degree of initiative & self-motivation.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail & ability to multi-task to ensure job duties are completed efficiently.
  • Effectively communicates with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems, brainstorm and analyze answers, and implement the best solution.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English (oral & written).
  • Effective oral & written communication.
  • PC skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.


$18-$19/hour, depending on experience
